We notify schools when there is no GO FAR, but they are to follow the pick-up plan that is communicated by the parent.
We send the schools a list of our participants and the days of GO FAR practice, but parents should send a note to the teacher or communicate with the teacher as well of when the child is to attend GO FAR.

*Parents are allowed and encouraged to volunteer. If you would like to be a regular volunteer, please email obxgofar@gmail.com ASAP.

*COMMUNICATION: Our main form of communication is thru email, Facebook, and the blog: it is highly important to check these daily as we will post any announcements, especially regarding weather.

*
Need @ Practice: Sneakers, wear comfortable clothes days of practices, and a water bottle
(re-fill-able water bottle with name on it to help reduce plastic bottles; we do provide plastic water bottles at snack time/at the end of practice, but it is helpful to hydration to have a re-fill-able water bottle!)

It is highly important to be aware of the GO FAR program's behavior policy for participants. GO FAR greatly appreciates that you review our behavior policy with the participant and that they are aware of GO FAR expectations before Day 1 to help promote: safe, fun, and enriching practices.

Expectations at GO FAR:
-To follow all safety guidelines in the rules below and as discussed by volunteer mentors on Day 1 for the entire season.
-To be committed to the program; to try their best at each activity. GO FAR is designed with a specific curricula that helps promote health awareness and effective running to fit a wide range of needs and abilities. Each participant must understand that it is not just about how fast one can run, but GO FAR is about how each step matters! Volunteer Mentors are there to help implement the curricula and guide participants to a healthier path, but each participant will receive what they commit to the program. They must be willing to listen, learn, be engaged, and must be motivated to be dedicated to GO FAR.

Behavior Policy:
Behavior Policy
OBX GO FAR Fall 2013
This enriched program is to inspire and learn a better well-being. Participants are expected to be motivated and demonstrate good character. When participants are compliant to the rules, more time can be spent on productive tasks and learning material. This program thrives when participants are encouraged to follow the rules, guidelines, and instructions.
Rules for Participants:
1.       The Golden Rule: treat others the way you expect to be treated. Be polite with words. Keep hands and feet to selves.
2.       Everyone is a team; we are working together to achieve our goals. No one should be exiled or made to feel left out. Motivate and interact with one another to hearten productivity.
3.       Demonstrate respect and manners. When spoken to please be aware that this is to the best of our judgment to ensure safety, therefore it should be adhered to respectfully.
4.       Come prepared! Wear comfortable clothes and tennis shoes to effectively and safely participate. Bring a water bottle with your name. Bring a good attitude.
5.       Try your best! As coaches we will be doing all that we can to motivate and encourage you, but to reach success you too must perform with effort and goals.
Please be aware of the policy to implement these rules and please be aware of the procedure that will take place when rules are broken:
1.       The participant will receive a warning; a detailed note home that requires parent/guardian signature.
2.       The parent/guardian will be contacted in person, through email, or phone to be informed of the behavior status. Recommendations and plans will be discussed.
3.       The participant will no longer be able to participate in the GO FAR program because of a risk of safety to self and others. The participant was given every opportunity to take the program seriously and enhance behavior to gain the most from the program. When the participant fails to comply with rules and recommendations, safety and morale become an issue.
