IMPORTANT: There has been an unfortunate incident and our race bibs (your # and timer) are being delayed and will not be able to make it until tomorrow!! Please come to the FRIDAY expo to get your Gear!! Got to roll with the punches when life throws you a curve - could be worse right now - we could be covered in snow on top of hurricane damage like the Northeast....so we will be thankful that the

sun is to be shining on race day, we have many happy runners, and we are all going to make the best of it and have a good time!! You are still welcome to come out to the Health Fair today and enjoy the action, but unfortunately you will not be able to get your race packets until the tomorrow expo 12-7 @ Parks and Rec KDH !!!

 IMPORTANT: PARENTS AND COACHES please do not worry about the emails from the timer, please follow the directions above - Come See Us Friday at the GO FAR tent and we will have your bib / packet for you

Cape Hatteras Race Info

Dear Hatteras,

We will miss you at our race event this weekend and send our regards to recovering from Sandy!! We still want to celebrate the end of the season with our Hatteras GO FAR family, so the race event will take place at the Thanksgiving Day event in Hatteras. The waiver you would have used for this race will be applied to the Thanksgiving Day races - steps on how to do so will be announced soon.

When: November 10, 2012

Fun Run @ 11 am, must arrive by 10:30 a.m.

5k @ 10 am, must arrive by 9:30 a.m.

8k @ 8am, must arrive by 7:30 a.m.

Where: First Flight School Track & Field

-Look for the GO FAR Tent on the left as entering field-

EXPO When & Where

All race packets (shirts and bibs) must be picked up at 1 of the 2 expos,

You will not be able to get race packets the morning of the race.

Even if you are not attending race day please come get your GO FAR shirt at the expo.

Even if you registered in the beginning of the season, you still need to register for this race specifically; for us to better organize who is attending.

We apologize if there has been confusion, but there must be a separate registration for the event to make it as efficient as possible for all; including Outer Banks Sporting Events that are wonderful enough to share their event with us.

Please remember to keep a check on the blog next week as there will be updated last week, expo, and race specifics!!

Even if you are not planning on attending race, please view the blog for expo info to make arrangements to pick-up the season GO FAR T-Shirt that was included with the fee at the beginning of the season!! This is a great opportunity to have family time to celebrate the finale events!!

Coaches volunteering to RUN are to use the code sent in the email as well.

This code is only applicable for one race per child! This code is for GO FAR students ONLY! Parents and other racers must register thru OBSE. Please do not share this code or use for anyone other than a GO FAR student as we will be monitoring registration.

 On the participant information page please choose under race category the race that is appropriate for your child; 1 mile fun run, 5k, or 8k.

These are titled as the Outer Banks Sporting Events (OBSE) races , but they are still the GO FAR event. OBSE is our host and we thank them for allowing us to use their registration process and race day events.  

Payment Reminders: 

You will not be charged for this event, because this was included in the fee at the beginning of the season. The fee at the beginning of the season includes a GO FAR T-shirt and Medal. This does not include a Buccaneer (obse) shirt and medal as this is a separate race and fee. GO FAR 5k and 8k will be timed. 

Packet-Pick-Up (shirt, bib, check-in):

ALL GO FAR STUDENTS MUST COME TO PACKET PICK UP OR HAVE SOMEONE PICK UP THEIR PACKET FOR THEM ONE OF THE FOLLOWING DAYS!

The expos are a great way to get pumped-up for race day and the best opportunity to receive the correct information (bib and check-in) ahead of time!  

 Please arrange to attend one of the expos.. There is NO RACE DAY Packet-Pick-UP!  

  If your child is not attending race day, please still come pick-up your GO FAR T-shirt at the Expo on Thurs or Fri - this is the only way to get the T-shirt and it will still be a great opportunity to be able to take in some of the end of season action and family activities!!

Race event is in the same location as Outer Banks Sporting Events' Races at the First Flight School Track and Football Field. Please meet at the GO FAR tent on your left as you enter field.  

8 k starts at 8am, arrive at 7:30 for warm-up and placement

5k starts at 10am, arrive by 9:30 for warm-up and placement

Fun Run 1 mile starts at 11 am, arrive by 10:30 for warm-up and placement

NO GO FAR OCT 26th EARLY DIS DAY

REMINDER:
There is NO GO FAR Friday Oct 26th at any school as  it is an Early Dismal Day!

NHES PRACTICE DAYS

Dear NHES parents/guardians,

I apologize for this inconvenience; Friday practice is moving to Thursdays. We are still having practice today the 28th (please see the dates below).

NHES is short of volunteers this season and we were hoping more would pull-thru, but it is not turning out that way. We do not want to risk safety and to ensure this and the quality of the program, myself or Sam Brown must be there to lead. As we have 4 schools on Friday, this is near impossible unless we move it to THURS. Everywhere is well set and NH typically has been in the past, but this season we definitely are in need of more volunteers and trained coaches there. Moving to THURS will make it possible for us to fill this gap. Tuesdays are the same. It will still be the same time (following school - just now on Thursdays)....a flyer will be sent home at pick-up today as well!!

Sorry for this inconvenience, but safety has to come first, so we can have fun and be effective!

What better way to celebrate thanksgiving than by giving thanks to a community program to support our children to a bright future! Running together is bonding together.

We are still accepting volunteer coaches or parent volunteers. Kitty Hawk is leading the way again this year for the most participants and we would love to have an empowered and enriching Head Coach to help at this supportive and spirited school. Nags Head Elementary is not far behind with the number of participants and is also in need of a Head Coach to help them GO FAR!! Deadline to register is SEPTEMBER 17th! 

If you choose the paper registration, please return to your child's school to the front office. Registrations will be picked-up from the office every other day.  

Registration fee covers season and race! This fee is for GO FAR and is for a GO FAR shirt and medal. If you wish to have Outer Banks Buccanear shirt and medal you must sign-up separately through OBSE.
